Becoming…
Welcome to a place of possibility… a liminal place… on this island’s edge
where spacious gentleness undermines the anxieties of that other world
A place of wind and water, sun, cloud, rain and rainbow…
where birds and animals share the solitude…
where tide and silence ebb and flow, in heart to heart union…
where our lives mingle in communion with God and the cosmos
where inner and outer worlds effortlessly interpenetrate
where continuity and inclusivity overcome brokenness and hostility…
A place to rest a while, to let the wholeness come, to be and to become…

Stepping beyond
In wildness is the enriching of the soul…
in experiencing the un-knowable beauty is to be earthed…
to be ‘humoused’… to be humbled…
to be embraced in our smallness by enormity,
the beyondness of rock and soil, of plant and tree, of landscape, sea and
sky…
to submit to the solitude and yet embrace the fellowship of nature’s
encompassing…
and in it to sense the ‘other’, the ‘great-one’,
the divine architect and enhancer of all being…
looking outwards, yet journeying inwards to the mystery,
that ever-expanding landscape of the soul…
such moments are pure gift… pure grace…
to risk stepping beyond what the mind can comprehend,
to step beyond the power of words to express…
to wonder how the earth feels…
to wonder what these few remaining twisted trees think of life…
to wonder what story the wind brings from across the hills and the deep,
distant ocean….

Lord I journey on…
tenderised by the vulnerability,
scoured by the pain, longing after you.
Lord I journey on…
groping and stumbling as I travel
down the pathway of your calling.
Lord I journey on…
humbled by the privilege of life and love,
choice and opportunity.
Lord I journey on…
to the thinnest places, where edges meet
and sea and sky mingle with your divine breath.
Lord I journey on…
to the brink of everything and to its heart,
to the end of myself and the depths of your eternal being.
Lord I journey on…
for there is no escape, no fixedness,
only the security of your love’s ebb and flow.
Lord I journey on…

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead
of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know
myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean
that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does
in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I
hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if
I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing
about it. Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and
in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you
will never leave me to face my perils alone.
